CATAN 6th Edition Board Game
Settle a new island, gather valuable resources, build thriving communities, and negotiate trades with your opponents in CATAN 6th Edition, the classic strategy board game that has become a favorite for family game nights and strategy enthusiasts.
Players compete to establish settlements and cities across the island of Catan while collecting the resources needed to expand their territories. With a modular hexagonal game board, changing resource locations, and player driven trading, every game presents a new combination of challenges and strategic opportunities.
Explore the Island of Catan
The island of Catan is ready to be settled. Players collect resources from the island’s different terrain types and use those resources to develop their settlements.
The modular board creates a changing island layout, helping ensure that each game has its own combination of resource locations and strategic possibilities.
Trade, Build, and Settle
Resource management is at the heart of CATAN. Players collect brick, wood, wheat, ore, and sheep and use those resources to expand their settlements.
Resources can be used to build roads, establish new settlements, and upgrade settlements into cities. Players must decide how to use their available resources while considering what their opponents may need.
Strategic Trading and Competition
Trading adds another layer of strategy to every game. Players can negotiate exchanges with their opponents to obtain resources they need for their next building project.
Competition comes from more than simply building. Players must consider where to expand, how to manage their resources, and how to respond to the actions of the other players around the table.
Race to 10 Victory Points
The objective is to be the first player to reach 10 victory points. Players earn points by developing their settlements, expanding their road networks, and accomplishing various objectives throughout the game.
Every decision can influence the race, making resource management, timing, positioning, and trading important parts of the experience.
A Different Game Every Time
The modular hexagonal board allows the island to be configured in different ways, creating a fresh playing environment from game to game.
Because the board layout, resource availability, player decisions, and trading relationships can change with every session, CATAN offers substantial replayability for families and strategy game enthusiasts.
The Robber Adds Another Challenge
Players must also contend with the robber, which can disrupt resource production and add an additional strategic element to the game.
Managing the robber and adapting to changing circumstances keeps players engaged throughout the game and can create unexpected turns in the competition.
Great for Family Game Nights
CATAN is designed for 3 to 4 players ages 10 and up, making it a great choice for family gatherings, game nights, and friendly competition.
The combination of resource management, trading, building, and strategic decision making gives players plenty to think about while keeping everyone involved throughout the game.

A Family Game Night Classic That Actually Lives Up to the Hype
A Family Game Night Classic That Actually Lives Up to the HypeI had heard about this game for years but somehow never actually sat down and played it until now, and I can see why it has remained popular for so long. This is one of those games that strikes a nice balance between strategy, competition, and fun without becoming overwhelmingly complicated. The concept is simple enough to learn: collect resources, trade with other players, build roads and settlements, and race to victory points. That said, there’s enough strategy involved that it never feels repetitive or purely luck-based. Every game feels a little different because the board layout changes, so replay value is excellent. What I really liked is that it encourages interaction. You’re constantly negotiating trades, blocking opponents (sometimes accidentally… sometimes not), and adjusting your strategy based on how the game unfolds. It creates a fun mix of competition and laughter, especially with family or friends who enjoy a little strategic thinking. The quality of the components feels solid overall, and setup was straightforward after learning where everything goes. The included instructions were helpful, although I’ll admit there was a bit of a learning curve the first game. Once everyone understood the basics, gameplay moved much more smoothly.A couple things to keep in mind: this isn’t really a quick, casual 10-minute game. Expect around an hour or more, especially when learning or playing with people who like to think through every move. Also, it works best if everyone playing enjoys strategy games to at least some degree—people looking for pure luck or very fast gameplay may not connect with it as much.Bottom line: This absolutely earned its reputation as a modern board game classic. It’s engaging, replayable, and creates a fun social experience that works especially well for family game nights or small groups of friends. Definitely one I can see staying in regular rotation.

A great way of spending a weekend night, or quarreling with your entire family. Whatever you prefer.
What would one expect of Catan? An amazing journey for your family. You are going to navigate the far reaches of diplomacy. This game is not a monopoly, so you don’t always scream at your best friends while playing it. But gosh, the way you trade with your opponents makes all the difference! How many sheep would you give me for this pile of bricks?None, brother, I wish to leave you devoid of such resource. Although I know that you are not trying to build a castle right there by the most lucrative point on the map, I know that your secret desire is to buy off 5 victory cards of the stack. Thus, my sheep will stay in my barn, and you keep your bricks!Ah, brother! You words pain me! Why do you thing that I’m going to betray you in such a way?And so on.It’s hard to bargain, yet our 7 year old kid is playing wtih us. So it’s not that hard to master.Plus, you can play it in millions of different scenarios because the field is being generated randomly every time you play. So great way to improve your strategy thinking and diplomacy within your friends and family.

Great family game
This is the best game ever. Our family plays it all the time. When my son first started explaining the rules, I thought I was never going to understand. But as soon as the game started, it was easy to learn. I would say it is a little more difficult for younger kids because of the strategy needed. We end up playing this every time we all get together. We gave enjoyed it so much that we’ve gotten the expansion packs.

Super fun!
We love this game! It’s a great one for the whole family and provides a different experience every time we play. It doesn’t take long to figure out and has very clear instructions. It’s a nice mix of strategy and of luck. We also like that it takes a little longer to play than a typical game, but doesn’t take so long that you quit before it ends.

Catan is my family’s N1 game
Got this game as a gift for my brother in law.I myself have the game as well and so does every single one of my brothers. We absolutely love catan and it’s such a fun board game to play with your friends and family. You need at least 3 players to play. The game itself is made very well. The artwork is very nice and helps you get immersed into the role playing of the game. Instructions are easy to learn and follow. Game speed is moderate. Not too little and less than playing monopoly. If you haven’t tried it you should! You won’t regret it

Love this edition! Best game ever!
Love this edition! The box comes with compartments and boxes to store all the game pieces. The upgraded images are nice too. I love this game and am so happy with this purchase!

The game is engaging, a bit challenging to learn the rules, but entirely manageable.
My daughter and 15 year old granddaughter started this game with no experience. While the instructions could be better, we figured it out on the first time playing. It was fun even the first time. A second game was more fun,and I expect that as we play more we will enjoy playing more strategically. There is clearly much potential for strategic play.

THE BEST GAME
We have been in a board game rut, and hadn’t been able to find something that works great for us. We played this at a friends, and had to immediately buy for ourselves. It’s probably my favorite board game out there right now. Can’t wait to buy the expansions.
Not as stated –
Can be addictive
Bought this for family members after I was introduced to this game. This game can be addictive! Since introducing, we each have our own, to include expansion. We love playing when we gather. Because we take turns gathering at each other’s home, having our own allows us to play at our home as well as not have to ‘travel’ with game. My sister and I (both retired) play every day, sometimes a few times a day when weather prevents outside activities.

Seminal board game
I’m pretty sure that every household that enjoys board games will love Catan. Nobody is left out during play, there’s almost always something happening on your turn, and you even collect resources on other players’ turns. You can also easily walk away for a minute and other players can deal resources to you, so you can have a bathroom break if you trust the other players.
