Humminbird HELIX 5 CHIRP GPS G3 Fish Finder
Serious anglers need more than a basic depth reading. The Humminbird HELIX 5 CHIRP GPS G3 Fish Finder combines powerful CHIRP sonar, GPS navigation, chartplotting, and real-time mapping in a compact marine electronics package designed for anglers who want a clearer picture of what is happening beneath the boat.
Its Dual Spectrum CHIRP Sonar gives you two scanning options. Wide Mode provides broader coverage to help search larger areas, while Narrow Mode focuses on a more detailed view of fish and underwater structure. The Low-Q CHIRP transducer technology provides precise 2D target separation to help distinguish individual targets and identify fish-holding areas.
Dual Spectrum CHIRP Sonar
The HELIX 5 CHIRP GPS G3 is designed to make sonar information easier to interpret. Dual Spectrum CHIRP provides both broad-area searching and detailed scanning, allowing you to adjust your approach depending on whether you’re searching for productive water or examining a promising piece of structure.
Built-In GPS & Humminbird Basemap
GPS functionality turns the HELIX 5 into more than just a fish finder. The included Humminbird Basemap provides chart coverage for more than 10,000 lakes along with continental U.S. coastline coverage.
The unit is also compatible with premium LakeMaster, CoastMaster, and Navionics chart options, giving anglers additional mapping capabilities when their fishing or boating needs demand more detailed chart coverage.
AutoChart Live Real-Time Mapping
With AutoChart Live, you can create your own maps while you are on the water. The system can record and display information including:
- Depth contours
- Bottom hardness
- Vegetation
The HELIX 5 CHIRP GPS G3 includes eight hours of built-in AutoChart Live recording time, with compatibility with AutoChart Zero Line SD cards for expanded mapping capacity.
Straightforward Keypad Operation
The HELIX 5 uses a familiar keypad and softkey control system rather than relying exclusively on a touchscreen. This provides straightforward access to menus, settings, and pre-loaded views while you’re on the water.
The intuitive button interface is particularly useful when you’re operating the unit in changing weather conditions or when you need to make adjustments without taking your attention away from fishing.

Very please
Does everything it says it does. Haven’t had a new one in years. Don’t feel I over paid at all. Enjoy it every time we take the boat out.

Excellent Basic Fish Finder
Great fish finder at an awesome price. I didn’t need a lot of bells and whistles…has all the features you need the most. Super easy to install and set up with included transducer. Easy to read even in bright sun. I did add a visor which really helps even more with glare from direct sun and helps protect the unit. The GPS and mapping is a great feature. I can leave my tracking on for the next trip. Highly recommend this unit as a basic, well made fish finder that doesn’t break the bank. Who needs a $$$$ fish finder anyway?

Good price for what you get.
I put this on a 42 year old 14’ wood boat, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I can see it in bright sunlight. Love it.

Quality
Feel it was a fair price and quality equipment. I like being able to split the screen , seeing my speed and tracking my route . It’s a good screen size for what we need .

NOT all parts included
I was disappointed to find that the box DOES NOT come with everything you need to install. Unfortunately, you need a 3amp fuse and most likely extra wiring to reach your battery box. My boat is only 14 feet long and the fuse cable was not long enough. I was in a crunch for time and was installing it the night before fishing. Once I realized that all the parts were not included, I couldn’t finish the install 🙁

Nice compact unit for small boats
When my brother upgraded his boat electronics, i grabbed this Helix 5 for my old 14’ aluminum fishing beater. I wanted something simple that still had GPS so I could follow my usual weedlines without dropping a bunch of marker buoys. Setup went smooth and the menu makes sense once you poke around for a few minutes. CHIRP sonar shows my jig and fish arches clearly at our local lake. Screen brightness is good, even in full sun. My only gripe is the screen size. It feels a little cramped when I split chart and sonar, so I end up flipping between views more than I’d like. For the price it works well and has already put me on a few more walleyes.

money well spent
locator shows the contour and weed beds of the lake very very well and it does Mark fish. I think I may have gotten lucky but I set my transducer up so I could do about 18 miles an hour and still read all signals. I was very impressed with that. I’m not the best IT person in the world having a hard time with the GPS marking spots. I want to go to, but it follows me around the lake quite a bit leaves a trail of red lines where I’ve been. I wish it was a little more user-friendly. But I feel for the money I spent. It’s the Best Buy in the market right now.
